Dear Matt, When I was asked to write a testimonial for Launch, I was thrilled! Our son started with Launch seven years ago when he was in the seventh grade. He had a minor learning disability and required specialized tutoring. Over the years, we have had various tutors because either they moved, got married or got their dream job. We remember with fondness each one – the two Nick’s, Jon, Brad – and how each one brought a different strength to our son. Each one understood our son’s learning block and how to help him. As our son evolved in his learning, so did our Launch “guys.” Not only are we impressed with their knowledge, ability and insight, but the genuine care and effort afforded to our son. Here's our story, Matt. Initially, we used Launch Education for our daughter to prepare for the March SAT test. Our daughter had already scored in the 99th percentile on the PSAT without any preparation and we were initially skeptical about any significant test score increase that could be obtained through test prep, especially since we had such a short time window (less than 2 months). Matt listened and put us at ease fully explaining (and understanding) the unique challenges inherent with working with a high achieving student (anxiety, high expectations, etc) and assured us of Launch Education’s experience in working with students like our daughter as well as the realistic type of results that we could hope to achieve. The tutor that Matt sent to our home was not only totally knowledgeable, but also understood the type of student that our daughter was and not only engaged her, but made her feel at ease and managed her expectations and stress. At each session, he reviewed material, explained her areas of strength and weakness and even gave her tips for test day preparation and built her confidence to a level where she was relaxed on the day of the exam. Needless to say, when she received her test results back a few weeks later (total score of 2250 with perfect score in Math)we were elated and as a junior she was able to complete her school year without worrying about taking the SAT and had the extra time to focus on her AP exams and Subject tests.

I'm quite impressed that the kids are learning such effective study habits but I also feel like a horrible mother because I'm making them give up weekend time to do it. I was fortunate to find Launch Education through a referral last summer. We were looking for a tutor to help our daughter prepare for the ISEE exam. My initial conversation was with Matt Steiner. He was so helpful and supportive from the beginning. After hearing about what we were looking for, Matt spent a significant amount of time asking questions about our daughter. He wanted to make sure to find the tutor that was most compatible with her. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Brian. Our experiences with Launch have been phenomenal, both in terms of academic achievement and academic encouragement / inspiration. Nell has been enhancing the academic prowess of my 10 year old daughter for 2 years. With laser sharp focus, Nell has honed in on improving test taking strategies, quantitative reasoning and verbal & reading comprehension. Matt, the director of Launch, began by seeking a baseline to gauge the possible testing improvement. He learned and highlighted her weaknesses and gave Nell and Tiera a game plan to improve upon. During this learning process, our daughter was furnished with worksheets, text book studies, and random quizzes. Nell and Tiera assigned homework that was really fun and enjoyable. I began SAT prep reluctantly and begrudgingly. I'd heard of how frustrating and stressful the test could be, as well as more than my fair share of stories from friends of the insane prep regimens that their SAT tutors had assigned them. So when I first met with the tutor that Matt matched with me with one month left until the SAT, I braced myself for the worst. But what I received was just the opposite. My tutor, Hart, was absolutely perfect! After a diagnostic and talking with me, he understood completely which areas we needed to focus on, and prioritized accordingly. I still don't know how, but he actually made prep fun. But what impressed me most was how understanding he was. At the time I was taking on a very heavy course load, so fitting in the extra work was often difficult. But Hart always made it clear, if doing the SAT assignments meant getting less sleep, then I should be taking the extra sleep instead. For times when I knew I was going to be extra busy, he adjusted the assignments to just the most important problems. During the entire process, I felt like Launch was invested in my own personal development. When I was upset over my performance on a practice test, or worried about the score that my college counselor recommended that I try to receive, Matt would always find the time to call and check in with me. It was this personal touch that honestly made all of difference. So when the test day finally came one month later, I took the test feeling completely confident that I had prepared to the best of my ability. And in the end, I received the exact score that I was aiming for! Thank you, Launch!

After the initial test, we knew we had a lot of catching up to do as our daughter's school has not been particularly strong in teaching math. Not only did we need to reinforce what she had learned, we needed to teach her higher level math principles in a very short time. In just about a month, Troy was able to teach our daughter valuable skills for taking the ISEE, as well as, increase her level of knowledge in math.
