Launch Education Group was officially founded in 2007 by Andrew Finn and Tim Urban. Since the company’s inception, our team of Directors and tutors has grown to match the demands of our students. Our administrative offices are located in Santa Monica and Manhattan, and we primarily serve families in Los Angeles and New York City.
We pride ourselves in our unique approach to academic tutoring and test preparation, which addresses learning at multiple levels. Ultimately, it is our goal to help students of all ages and ability levels to achieve their potential and develop independence. We believe we have done our job when our students no longer need our support.

Our Founders
Tim Urban
After earning his A.B. from Harvard University, graduating cum laude with a major in Government, Tim co-founded The Cartim Group from 2005-2007. Alongside Launch Education close affiliate Carolyn McWilliams, Tim built the Cartim Group into one of the premier academic tutoring companies in Los Angeles and New York.
Tim’s tutoring philosophy stems from a wealth of tutoring experiences, as both a tutor and a tutoring company owner. In addition to overseeing operations of Launch Education Group and The Cartim Group since 2005, Tim has a decade of tutoring experience and has personally tutored nearly every academic subject and worked to prepare students for the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, GRE and ISEE.

Andrew Finn
Andrew earned his B.B.A. from University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and graduated with high distinction after being a member of Michigan’s prestigious Honors’ Program.
After graduation, Andrew worked as a management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global professional services firm, in Sydney, Australia. He enjoys bringing the excellence of a professional services firm to the world of academic tutoring.
